Wallet setup

Two different things go in here, and they are not the same address: your wallet key signs the orders, your Polymarket address holds the money. Where to find each is written under the fields.

MetaMask → click your account name at the top → the three dots next to that account → Account details → Show private key → enter your MetaMask password. Starts with 0x, 64 characters. This is the wallet you connected to Polymarket. It is not your 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase — never enter that anywhere.
polymarket.com → click your profile picture → the address shown right under your name. This is the account that holds your balance, and it is a different address than the one MetaMask shows you.
Not the address from the Deposit dialog: that one only takes the money in and forwards it here, and it stays empty.
Polymarket changed how new accounts are built in May 2026, and the two kinds need different handling. If you are unsure, leave the first option: on saving, the app asks the exchange which one actually finds your balance and corrects this by itself.
A real signed auth test is performed against the exchange API.

Your key is stored only on this computer (owner-readable file), never in the database and never sent back to the browser.
